There are many more types of producers than most people think. Film is just one option. Creative advertising producers bring campaigns to life on TV, digital platforms, and social media. Experiential producers organize big live events like the Olympics, World Cup, or major marathons. Post-production producers handle editing, visual effects, color, and sound. Live action producers manage shoots from start to finish. Art producers find photos, illustrations, and visuals for agencies and brands. Video game producers oversee some of the most complex creative projects around.
The skills of a producer, like managing creative ideas, budgets, schedules, and teams, apply everywhere. Once you have these skills, you can work in different industries and media throughout your career. Film is a great way to learn these skills, but it shouldn't be your limit. The opportunities are endless.

Hi Alyssa, this is a great question and actually one that I thought a lot about when I was deciding which career paths I wanted to explore.
One of the more obvious options is to explore the entertainment industry: film, television, documentaries. If this is something you're particularly interested in, schools like USC, NYU, Chapman would be strong targets.
Another option is joining a production agency. There are video agencies that support the entertainment industry, create commercials for consumer goods, develop video content for corporations - the list is really endless here. The nice thing about working at an agency is that you have an opportunity to work with a variety of clients and get broad exposure.
You can also work in-house for a business that has a high-volume of video needs. For example, I work in the tech industry and we have a video editor / motion designer on our Creative team.
The need for video, especially in the business world, is on the rise so this is a great avenue to explore if it's of interest to you!
