What classes are recommended when going into a history major/art History minor?

I'm looking into history majors and wanted some advice on what classes I should and should not invest in to stay on track.

First off, consider taking CLEP tests for as many basic courses as possible. Most only require 50% correct answers to get credit and cost less than $100 each. Meet regularly with your academic advisor so you know exactly the classes you need to be taking so you dont waste time or money. Each degree plan is different.
