When should international students bring up visa sponsorship during the job search

I'm an international student in my final year of a master's program in the US, and after graduation I'll be on OPT before needing sponsorship. I worry that raising the visa topic too early costs me interviews. When have people here found it best to bring it up — with the recruiter first call, or only after an offer?

Thank you comment icon Still chewing on this. While researching I came across this plain-English guide to the EB-2 NIW self-petition https://www.o1eb1.com/en/eb1/eb-2-niw — apparently some international grads skip employer sponsorship with it. For someone on OPT with no publications or awards yet, does an NIW look realistic, or should I just focus on finding H-1B-friendly employers first? Alex
