Hello Sienna! Kudos to you for taking the initiative to start your research at this stage! I wholeheartedly echo Lashay's advice. Drawing from my own journey over the years, I'd confidently recommend you to: 1) "Keep an Open Mind for Everything and Stay Unattached to Anything" (Dr. Wayne Dyer) - let your curiosity guide you! 2) Also, bear in mind that your career path isn't set in stone - it can change over your lifetime. For instance, if you opt for nursing school now, it doesn't restrict you from switching lanes later to explore fields like education, business, or others. Remember, no learning is ever wasted; the knowledge you gain and the skills you hone can adapt to your changing interests! Wishing you all the best!

Lashay’s Answer

Hi Sienna: You are asking this question at a the best time, 10th grade. There are too many careers in the world to list but there are two wonderful websites that have been created by the federal government that are well researched and reliable, compared to all of the not so honest sites that exist online. So, onet online.org is a great website to review jobs that exist. It lists a lot of jobs in different ways. You can search by "hot jobs," skills, higher paying jobs, or general search box where you type in a title. I strongly encourage taking one hour a day for a week, at least, to get familiar with those that exist. Another site is occupational Outlook handbook (Google these words together). Here you will get a good idea of how much certain jobs are needed and which ones are going away. Make sure that you choose a job that is growing in demand. After all, you will spend a lot of money studying it. Hope these help you.

Lashay recommends the following next steps:

List subjects you've enjoyed and that have been naturally "easy"for you. Look on both sites for jobs in those subjects.
List any volunteer work, paid work, or internships or even shadowing experiences you've had and enjoyed. Look for those as well on the sites.
