Here in Texas, the average is $70,000 per year. However sonographers can make more than that if they are willing to travel or take night call.

I don't know the salary range but my sister is a freelance Stenographer with 30+ years experience. As a freelancer, she is able to set the days that she wants to work which is good. However, depending on the cases she works, there are many long days that don't end when depositions do. Some cases require "daily's' which means the deposition has to be transcribed and returned often times on the same day. She has a choice to do the transcription herself aided by software or pay someone else to do it after she transmits the file to them.
It can be rewarding and she has made a good living but she has put in the time and effort.

Hi Michaela:
According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for cardiovascular technologists and technicians was $59,100 in May 2020. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10% percent earned less than $30,140, and the highest 10% percent earned more than $96,790.
The median annual wage for diagnostic medical sonographers was $75,920 in May 2020. The lowest 10% percent earned less than $53,790, and the highest 10% percent earned more than $105,340.
Diagnostic medical sonographers and cardiovascular technologists and technicians, including vascular technologists, also called diagnostic imaging workers, operate special imaging equipment to create images or conduct tests. The images and test results help physicians assess and diagnose medical conditions. Sonographers and technologists may work closely with physicians and surgeons before, during, and after procedures.
JOB OUTLOOK
Employment of diagnostic medical sonographers is projected to grow 17% percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment of cardiovascular technologists and technicians, including vascular technologists, is projected to grow 5% percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations.
Diagnostic imaging personnel who are certified are expected to have the best job opportunities. Those certified in more than one specialty are expected to find even greater job opportunities. Best of luck to you!
