oh yes, they do. in fact most of the companies are now focussing on both the physical and mental well being of all employees and hence the holiday structure is very friendly and apt. you could also indulge in a lot of focus groups and Animals being your love there will be a lot of animal welfare groups who do a lot of great activities for the well being of our other planet mates and you could contribute immensely with your time and hard work...best of luck !!

Courtney’s Answer

At the vet clinic I interned at, there was a skeleton crew of one or two vet techs that worked holidays for any animals that needed to be kept under observation and the Vet was on call if something happened. But if a clinic is able to send all the animals home, there's no need for the clinic to be open on a holiday.

If you work at an emergency pet hospital, some of them are open pretty much all the time and others are open during times that normal vet clinics are closed, which means holidays, so employees would be expected to work holidays. Of course, the longer you work there, the better a chance of you getting to take a vacation day on a holiday.

In a zoo, there's no such thing as a holiday. The animals that live there need to be cared for 24/7, 356. At my zoo, the only way we get a holiday is if it falls on our normal day off. My days off are Weds, Saturday and Sunday. I'm lucky this year because Christmas and New Years both fall on Wednesday. However, I have to work Thanksgiving.

Try googling Animal Emergency hospitals in San Antonio to get an idea of what their hours are. Some are only open from like 5pm-8am and on weekends.
