Tejaswini’s Answer

Hi,

It's a very interesting question.

Corporate culture differs from organisation to organisation. However there are common etiquettes that build up a corporate culture.

Few of the professional hygienes:

  1. Be punctual; corporate meetings are not like social meet-ups. Show up on time.
  2. Respond to meeting invites; either accept or decline, but do respond with a proper reason.
  3. Stay honest with your job. Maintain professional relations.

Having said that, corporate culture may impact your personal life. Make sure you always keep the two separate. Don't let one influence the other.

Regards,

Tejaswini

Erin’s Answer

Corporate Culture as is stands is rooted in capitalism, which is built on the backs of black people and slavery. The root word or corporate is corpus which is body, which as it stands in capitalism is the bodies of black people. Its rooted in death. Its competitive and lacks true growth. Its more deeply rooted in exploitation and death of populations of people. Its defined by work rather than service , which is problematic. There are companies that are trying to changing these models as it stands the majority of corporate is dysfunctional at best.
Thank you comment icon Hi Erin, I completely agree with your statement and you have mentioned some really great points. However, I believe the student was asking more about workplace culture and norms. Any information you have about that would be helpful! Gurpreet Lally, Admin
