Natasha’s Answer

In the career sectors that you are considering (biology, medicine, neurology): a quality such as the ability for continuous learning will be useful. Science provides certain elemental foundations about the work that you will do. Yet, those fields are still learning about established adages, still undergoing developments, still discovering new phenomena (such as this new corona virus, which impacts the world).

So keep learning - always. Learn from books, learn from the work, learn from others (peers, experts). Continuous learning goes hand in hand with remaining humble and understanding that humans don't always have all of the answers (about health, life, humanity, planet).

Stay Well,
Natasha

Richard’s Answer

Persistence.
There are plenty of reasons and plenty of opportunities to give up on the path to any career. But don’t give up. I take inspiration from the story of the failed Antarctic exploration by polar explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew as told in the book “Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage.” Understanding their ability to overcome the incredible hardships and survive teaches me that humans can accomplish anything
