Be positive and energetic. If you have a good educational background, you can search online or via agents and start attending interviews. Soon you should find one.

Hi Sebastian, this varies drastically by industry and company. Certain companies are ready and willing to hire someone the day they interview. Others need months and months to decide. I've personally had to interview with one company over the course of 2 months before.

Take a look at companies on Glassdoor.com. You may learn something about their interviewing process.

Hi Sebastian,

As has been mentioned here, this can often vary depending on the industry and size of the company that you're looking to join.

However, for someone who is looking for their first career coming out of school, I would budget anywhere between 3-6 months in order to land the job. You'll need to take into account of all of steps that are involved in the application and interview process:

  • Submitting resumé & cover letter
  • First-round interview with HR Recruiter
  • Follow-Up interviews: This can range anywhere from 2-6 rounds of interviews with various team members, management, executives, etc.
  • Contract negotiation

For smaller companies, I've heard of cases where the above steps can be completed in a matter of weeks, while larger, established corporations can take many months simply due to the amount of administrative steps that happen on the employer side.

Best of luck on the job search! The fact that you're on this platform shows that you're getting ahead of game!

Hello,
As I am sure others have mentioned, this time frame varies greatly depending on what you are looking in to for employment. I recommend applying to a range of jobs you are capable of doing as well as some that may be a longshot. It never hurts to try the worst you can be told is "no thank you". Also apply for as many jobs as you can at one time, I have run in to situations where people apply for one job, then wait on the answer, if it is no they apply again for one more. The more jobs you apply for the more chances you have to hear back sooner. This will increase your odds as well. Its nice to interview and learn about the jobs as well as gain interview experience, you never know when the right job will come along. That being said it can take anywhere from 3 weeks or more.
