Would you learn the same basic things in vet school then you would in nursing school?

I am taking health science classes and it is human based and I wanted to know if it would be about the same thing. #veterinarian #veterinary #veterinary-medicine

Wael’s Answer

Yes and No. Vets are doctors. It takes much more education to become a vet. Check the links below to understand the differences between these paths.

Todd’s Answer

In vet school you will learn the same subjects a human doctor would, but you will learn how to apply them across any species of living thing (fish to dog/cat to primate). From the standpoint of a veterinarian, I would say the answer to your question is no. There will be some similar subjects, but vet school will be more in depth & comprehensive than nursing school in my opinion. Vet school will also require four years to complete, and usually you need about four years of undergraduate study in pre requisite courses before you can apply to vet school. So it will take about eight years to become a vet, I dont know how long a nursing degree takes.

Todd recommends the following next steps:

Contact the schools (vet and nursing) that you might apply to and get them to send you the admission requirements and a curriculum schedule. .You can dicuss these with your student counelor or an instructor you like, they should be able to help you decide. Also, do not be afraid to call the vet school or the nursing school to ask questions. Be polite but persistant until you find someone who can help you. Good luck.
