Cedric’s Answer

The hours you work depend on your field of choice. For instance, if you work with collegiate or professional athletes, you won't have to work while they are playing the games but you will have to work before and after. The amount of time depends on the sport, the number of plyers on rosters, and the number of players on the roster that need treatment.

If you are working for the general public, you will work normal business hours which are usually from 7am - 6pm depending on the Dr.'s office schedule.

Hi Jessica: The Physical Therapy hours are usually a day shift job with the hours of 8- 5pm or6-2pm and 10 -6pm. Some physical therapy providers offer services to patients during early morning or early evening hours. The providers can be hospitals, clinics Orthopedic Drs. with another room used as a physical therapy room, and some nursing homes. The process to become a PT is 4 years of completing undergraduate work for a degree and 3 more years for a DPT Doctor of Physical Therapy . Because this

has become a popular area and a much needed career it is worth all the time to put into have a great career. I would suggest that you might want to volunteer at one of PT providers or shadow someone who is working as a PT and you can see what is done during the hours in the day and decide if that is what you want to do.

Another suggestion is visit your closest college and check into the Career Center to see if they have Assessment for you to take such as SDS (self directed search and Personality Assessment. These assessment will be very valuable to see if your personality and interests are comparable with a Physical Therapy Career. I wish you the best in your research on this wonder ful career.
