The school I am going to doesn't accept student loans? I have been doing scholarships a lot but how else can I fund my education? Are their other ways?

There is no federal funding at the college I am attending. They offer a 12,000 loan each year but that will obviously not cover the whole tuition and room and board. I have a 3.96 unweighted GPA but because it is a very competitive college that really doesn't get me many scholarships. I have been searching for scholarships and doing one almost everyday, but the competition level is very high and they are hard to get. I can't apply for any local scholarships because I am cyber schooled after leaving my local high school. I really want to be able to attend because it is good and well accredited college, but I don't know how to do that without being able to use student loans. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks #education #scholarships #gpa #loans #financing

I think you have a few options but none are ideal Option 1: If you are unable to get federal loans (subsidized and unsubsidized) through the school then you will have to apply for private loans offered by a bank, credit union, or some other for-profit organization. These types are loans are not as good as the federal loans because they tend to carry a higher interest rate and many of them, if not all, are unsubsidized meaning interest accumulates while you are in school. Option 2: Your parents may be able to apply for a Federal PLUS Loan assuming they have not filed bankruptcy within the last few years and their credit is pretty decent. Option 3: Go to a different school. The fact that you have a 3.96 GPA but can't get free money is ridiculous. This college sounds pretty competitive so it knows that it doesn't need to offer scholarships to increase attendance. I know you're frustrated but don't get stressed out about it. With a 3.96 GPA you will wind up at a great school even if it's not your top choice.

Dr. James’s Answer

One concern I have is why your college does not have federal funding. Make sure your college is recognized by the college board. You want to graduate with a degree that is recognized.
I agree with Paul's answer, stay away from loans as much as you can. It is so weird your college wont accept federally subsidized loans. I suggest going to your local library and check out a book on scholarship in the reference section. You can also buy a book that solely focuses on scholarship on-line. These books list all those obscure scholarship such as students who are left handed. With your GPA, you should be able to find a variety of scholarships.
Good luck.
