Rachel’s Answer

I can give you the path to general surgery. You will need to complete 4 years of college. Once accepted to medical school, as long as you pass your classes and perform reasonably well during your four years of medical training, you can apply for a general surgery 5 year residency. Following that, you will likely apply for a 1-3 year fellowship. This career path requires 14+ years of school after high school but is very fulfilling and challenging work.

Priya’s Answer

Hey there!
You will spend four years earning a bachelors degree and completing the required pre- requisite courses. Medical school is also four years after you graduate from an undergraduate university. Some people do combined paths such as MD/MBA, which require a little over four years of graduate work.
After medical school, you will attend residency and fellowship (depending on the speciality). Usually, a physician would spend a total of 11-13 years in school. Surgeons have extra training and might be closer to 14.

Riley’s Answer

In order to become a surgeon, you will need to begin with earning a bachelor's degree from a 4-year university, then you will need to attend medical school for another 4 years. After this you will need to complete a few years of residency and training to gain experience before you can be hired as a surgeon. Furthermore, doctors do need to complete a certain amount of additional training each year that they are in their career, as well as most other careers, to ensure that they are up to date with new technology.

Riley recommends the following next steps:

At least 11 years
