Fiona’s Answer

You could try your local state or national Treasury departments.
Alternatively, application of your discipline can be quite broad - consider management consulting, or Non Governmental Organisations that advise on standards or policies.

Courtney’s Answer

If you can get an internship with your local government, that would help. If you cannot do that, you can try the local courts. You should focus on getting an internship on what you're most interested in.

Samir’s Answer

First of call, congrats on working in the area of economic policy. There are a wide range of careers you can do here - government, non-profit, consulting as well as within industry. I would consider keeping your options open for an internship(s) and try to investigate as many different opportunities to get an idea of what you like, and as importantly, what you don't like!

Nicolas’s Answer

Hi Cristina
There are various options - have you considered applying to the European Commission (EC) ? In case you do not hold a EU Citizenship, you will be glad to know that a limited number of places are also allocated to non EU nationals. Once approved, you would get €1.220 per month as living allowance as 'Trainee'.

Registration for March 2021 will open in July 2020. Here you will find some steps https://ec.europa.eu/stages/home_en

Besides the EC, you may consider other institutions in Europe:

European Parliament
Council of the European Union
Court of Justice
Committee of the Regions
European Economic and Social Committee
European Ombudsman
European Data Protection Supervisor

I hope this helps!
Nicolas

Nicolas recommends the following next steps:

1. Go here https://ec.europa.eu/stages/home_en
2. Select your state of readiness from the requirements - and prepare in advance
3. Apply once you meet the pre-requisites
4. Enjoy Europe!

Rawa’s Answer

Take a look at government opportunities and NGOs. Depending on your interest, you may consider an internship in one of the international organisations. If I were to go back in time, I think I would've liked to gain some experience from an internship with The World Health Organisation, or the like.

Angel’s Answer

Hi Cristina. I would also recommend that you tap into your social media sites, such as LinkedIn, and follow companies you're interested in. And be sure to have a profile set up for yourself that expresses your interest for internship opportunities.

Congratulations and best wishes on your next chapter in your journey!
