What should I do to find all of the money?

Hi, I'm in a really bad predicament. I got into the school of my dreams, but the net cost us very high. I have signed up for many scholarships but have not received any. #college #money #scholarships #financial-aid

Apply for scholarships and grants as often as you can. Fill out essays and keep doing research about different packages, especially ones that are offered by your university. Beyond applying for scholarships and grants, I'd recommend seeing if you qualify for work study. Work study is a bank of grant money that you can pull hourly wages from like a normal job, usually part time. Assuming the same hours and pay, work-study is way superior. You can get study time back if you work in a dorm lobby or a library. You can get lots of free food if you work at the cafeteria. I was able to do both and it was a big boon to both my undergraduate and graduate studies. It helped me connect the dots financially while living in college as well. Plus, you save yourself hours of time commuting to and from campus and don't have to deal with quite the same stress/pressure from having a real job off-campus. Lastly, many universities will offer you free room and board if you become one of the dorm supervisors, so keep an eye out for those jobs too.

Be sure to complete the Federal Application for Financial Aid. This is the starting point and will determine how much aid you can receive. Then work with your school to find Work Study, Grants and lastly Loans to finance your education. You can do it...I had no money for college but was able to work my way through.

CONGRATULATIONS on getting into the school of your dreams! I suggest that you contact the school to see if there's anything that can be done to increase your award or any suggestions they may have. Make sure you have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) because it determines who much aid is awarded to you. Continue to research scholarships, work study and grants. You may want to consider a private loan at your local bank or credit union.

Investing in your career is critical to success and college is the first step. So, keep trying to get scholarships and balance your studies with working to help get the money for school even if it takes longer to graduate.
