Yes! I am an engineer but also spend a lot of my time doing music performance and recording. It takes time management to do both but it is very possible. I know many musicians who split their time between music and another career. Follow your dreams!!!!

Anything is possible! Pursue both, pursue singing. As cliche as it may sound, this is YOUR life. Do with it what YOU want and follow your dreams. If singing is your passion, talk to your parents and let them know that you want to pursue this and would like their support. They may disagree, but it's only because they want what they think is best for you. At the end of the day, retain autonomy for your choices and life.

This will bring you happiness, and that it is the ultimate goal :)

Marina’s Answer

I believe you can do both! Are you familiar with music therapy? Taken from musictherapy.org: "Music therapists assess emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses; design music sessions for individuals and groups based on client needs using music improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, lyric discussion, music and imagery, music performance, and learning through music; participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ongoing evaluation, and follow up."

I haven't participated in music therapy myself, but this field could be a way to pursue being a singer while also working as a doctor. As people around the world navigate a post-COVID-19 life, I think there will be a large need of doctors who focus on emotional well-being, physical health and communication.

Ofcourse why not! You can do anything if you passionate about it. Being a Doctor is your profession, do you also want to take singing as your alternate profession or is it just your hobby? If you are good at singing or want to improve upon it, take regular classes by making sometime from your current professional career. That would say, if you can pick that up as a profession or not. You can do your own albums as waiting for an opportunity as a background singer might nit assure you chances all the time. Take part in singing reality shows to get exposure, experience and education and also visibilty at the same time. Having said the above, sustaining both careers at the same time purely depends on how much you keep yourself occupied across both these professions.Say, If you are too passionate and most of your time goes to your singing career, then you may not be able to do justice to do Doctor Profession!
