There are so many colleges to go to in the state of New York!
Just like the prior answers posted- it really does depend on what your interests are. I went to a SUNY and then post-grad at St. John's , and really enjoyed both because they had the majors I was interested in.
Right now you are interested in medicine, but not sure which specialization you want to pursue, so I recommend looking up some of the rankings for colleges with good medical programs (remember- you will have to eventually go to Med school after college - but some schools offer a joint college/med program). I do suggest that you go to a school that has a university hospital associated with it. (ex: SUNY StonyBrook, NYU, St. Johns, etc.) The reason for this is because you may be able to explore internship opportunities and have access to instructors that may actually practice medicine- this could be a good resource for future mentors and employment down the line.
NOTE: I am not in the medical profession, but both my schools had attached hospitals and the medical students benefited immensely from this.
