I heavily recommend looking at the prerequisite requirements for the specific nursing school you are interested in. Your current schools pre-nursing requirements may not align exactly with the nursing school you hope to get into. Use the prerequisites required for your goal nursing school, and use that to choose your courses. Best of luck!

Since you are switching from one science major to another, some of your classes may overlap, such as microbiology, chemistry, and general science. This means your credits will transfer into your new program so you do not have to retake classes. I would highly recommend talking to a counselor at your school and look into what switching majors would look like. Good luck! Nursing is a great profession!

Bradley’s Answer

I would recommend going to a counselor at your school and see what the requirements are for nursing . When you have the classes you can compare what you have completed with what needs to bee done to complete the course. I would suggest that you get all your ducks in a row before you start down the road of being a college student just because college is not cheap. I hope this helps out and you do well in your new profession.

You may want to evaluate how far along you are in your current track. Pre-med and nursing are different, but there is some overlap in the courses from both. These courses include biology, chemistry, English and math. Switching majors can be relatively easy. Ultimately, you should meet with your academic advisor to review the courses you have taken versus what you will need to apply to a nursing program. Good luck.

Rebecca’s Answer

Nursing is a career that I have loved and am happy to have received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program. To become a nursing major you need to make sure you find a school that offers that program. Since you are a biology major I am certain many of your credits will transfer over to a nursing program. Meeting with an academic advisor of the school that you choose to gain your nursing degree would be a great first step.
Nursing allows for so many different opportunities and really does prepare you for so many things. Though I have my degree in nursing I have worked in education and now in consulting. The skills that I learned while earning my degree has allowed me the opportunity to be diverse in my career choices over the years.
