Sendil’s Answer

The first step in balancing your work and personal life is recognizing that it is not just going to happen—you have to be proactive and work at it, and the time to do so is now. Recognize that a balanced life is not just going to happen. If change is needed, you are going to have to initiate it.

The first step in creating work-life balance is identifying what is important to you. All three wellness professionals consulted for this article emphasized the importance of aligning your personal values and priorities in your career and personal life. If you find it hard to express your priorities, you may have a mismatch between your life and your values.

Edgar’s Answer

I think that having a good support system is a good way to express your problems and how you are doing to others and receive feedback from others. When you're going through a difficult time, I think that reaching out to others is a good way to feel better about a particular situation or problem and get a second opinion on things. Someone might be going through something similar and offer great advice on how to handle that situation. I think that many medical students and those in the medical profession share a lot of similar experiences going through school and work, and you will definitely find someone that you can relate to.

In short, don't be afraid to reach out for help from others, and don't think that you are alone in facing these problems.

Tevon’s Answer

Hi Destiny,
The most important part about keeping your emotions in check is to make sure you are spending enough time for yourself; if you start to be overcome by stress, it becomes much more difficult to keep your emotions under control. Crucial time management is a necessity. I would highly recommend making a calendar and spacing out your time efficiently and making separate time for work/study and another time for sleep/hobbies and other important health benefits.

Hope this helps!

PAUL’s Answer

Hello
I must commend you in asking this question as awareness is a critical first step in addressing your challenge. I would offer that trying to have a balance in your life with, work/school and rest and relaxation will go a long way in allowing you to have more even sense of calm. Exercise is also an important method in providing an outlet for stress, tension release etc and ensuring you also have a good balance of a heathy diet and a good sleep pattern will also allow you to reduce the amount of tension in your life which contributes to overloading your emotions. I would finally suggest that if you can, find a counselor, therapist etc; someone who is qualified to talk you and listen and provide further advice would be of great help

Good luck
