I personally don’t believe the actual college matter, what does matter is the grades you get while you’re in college. It also helps to participate in internships and volunteer opportunities that expose you to some of the duties you’ll have as a law enforcement officer.

Hilary’s Answer

Michigan state schools are some of the best policing schools in America. You should look up the top ten schools in law Enforcement (with parents permission to use computer) and see what is available especially for financing and locations. You shouldn’t always think the #1 school in law Enforcement is for you. There are many reasons to look at all schools and applying. Your GPA and finances will play a big part in the school you choose.

Hilary recommends the following next steps:

Look at school listings on computer
See what GPA is needed for that school
See what testing you need to complete application
See what the costs of the school is and your financial plan

None. Your best preparation for a career in law enforcement would be 2-3 years of service with the US Army or Marine Corps in a Military Police unit.

You may enlist at 18, and gain valuable training and experience that will prepare you well for the next 30 years of your career.

After your tour of duty, use your GI bill to finish your degree (your military training and service count for college credit.). Most of the time, you can complete your AA degree while serving.
