[closed] How well do cashiers do in a retail banking career?

Hello,

I am a college business senior, and my degree is with administration. My major is management. I have a small amount of experience with being a cashier, so how helpful would this be if I wanted to become a bank teller or a bank retailer? I have learned typing and excel skills as well as customer service skills from working for about a year.

Thank you,

Donald’s Answer

After spending 31 years in banking, I can confirm that tellers do not make much money. Certainly, it is a way to get into the banking/finance industry but do not expect to make much money; the last bank I worked for started tellers at 8.25 per hour. If you are interested in a management career, then look for management trainee positions. If I started in banking right now I would be excited about the future of digital banking.
