[closed] How helpful are management training programs?

Hello,

I am a business senior at Concordia University, and I have an interest in administration and management. There is still much for me to learn in real life, and I have some academic knowledge about running a business. I would like to gain some first hand experience by participating in a paid position that provides training. Are training programs really helpful, and are they filled with people who will answer your questions?

Thank you,

Hi Aimee
Training is a 2 way process. Management training programs are helpful if you are clear on the objectives, that they fit with your development needs, that you fully engage with the program and then put the learnings into practice i.e. turning up to a training program and just listening will not make a significant difference to development. You touch on a really great point about "people who will answer your questions" because I find training programs to be an excellent forum for sharing experiences and ideas - and this is where real value and learning is created. They're also great for networking.
