[closed] How would you describe business intelligence?

Hello,

I am currently a business senior with an interest in administration and a major in management. i love to learn more about management. In the management classes, a common topic of discussion is that of BI, or business intelligence. It has something to do with making informed decisions and acting out of a plan. How would a professional describe what this means, in comparison to a teacher or a student? Does this have anything to do with corporate espoinage or spying? I wonder if this is why corporations have privacy back-up files and intelligence officers to keep a business up to date and running. My teacher pointed out an example about how Blockbuster ran out of business due to online video streaming sources like Netflix and Hulu. In addition, the VCR industry went out of business because of modern day advances.

Thank you for your help,
