[closed] How prevalent is the use of Spanish by managers in Texas?

Hello,

I am a senior business major in college, and my major is in administration. I have a great school, and the knowledge that I have gained in my general business classes like accounting, marketing, and management have not said much about using Spanish as a competitive advantage in the workforce. I live in Texas which is close by Mexico, so I feel like being able to fluently speak Spanish is important. How prevalent is the use of Spanish by managers in Texas?

I think it sort of depends on what type of business you go into. For example, if you are in construction, a lot of your employees may speak only Spanish (Tex-Mex). If you are in a business that does trade with Mexico, and you are part of the team that negotiates contracts, it would be beneficial to know proper Spanish. It might also depend on what part of Texas you live in.

I know that here in San Antonio, it is difficult to get a job as a paralegal if you do not speak Spanish. That is because many of the clients are Spanish-speakers.

If you do learn Spanish now, you will need to find a way to stay fluent in it. I took 2 semesters in college, did very well, but never used it. I have tried to re-learn it now, but it is not coming back to me. It is easier to learn while you are young. It's been 30 years since I took it.

As to how prevalent it is, I'm sorry, but I really cannot answer that question. Hope this helps a little though!
