What are some good websites, some specifics in searching for careers within your field of study?

A few friends have informed me that before I graduate to start applying for jobs. Few have told me to use websites such as indeed.com , linkedin.com , etc. I have been using indeed often but pretty much all requirements for the jobs I am interested in want experience of a few some odd years. Linkedin is awesome! It is something I highly recommend every college student should create and explore. I know it does not come quickly, so I've got to be patient but it is hard to find jobs. I am just hoping that one day I will be fortunate enough to have an interview and get one! #career #linkedin #websites

Hi Mitchel,

It's completely normal be anxious about getting a job, mainly a job that meets the career option.

Be patient, maintain the focus and I´m sure that you'll have success in your achievements. Career coaches recommend spending no more than 10 percent of your job searching time online. Devote the rest to generating leads, networking, researching companies and meeting people face to face.

I selected some websites for you:

  • CareerBuilder.com

  • Dice.com

  • Glassdoor.com

  • Idealist.com

  • LinkUp.com

  • Monster.com

  • SimplyHired.com

  • US.jobs

Linked in is a great way to follow leaders & businesses that you may be interested in. Glass door is a great way to research companies and see what their current employees experience is. Use both of them to find businesses and dig into findinf who are leaders in the business and what other professionals or businesses they follow. Make sure to stay active so you can be updated on the trends in the industry.

Angie recommends the following next steps:

It seems like you're in college, so I'd definitely recommend adding handshake.com to your list of resources.

A lot of schools are in partnership with this company, and recruiters often use it to find potential candidates like you, based on your major, expected graduation year, and experience. I've personally received a wide range of opportunities, from internships to full-time job offers, through this site. Plus, they host events such as virtual career fairs which are super helpful.

Just a heads up though, universities don't always do the best job of promoting their partnership with this platform. I actually stumbled upon it myself. So, don't miss out on this handy tool!
