It's a weird place to be in, for sure. I would recommend starting with putting your resume in to different behavioral centers. I would surmise that, if nothing else, it can help point you in a solid direction. I'm not not familiar with your area but there may be a Board of Psychology or something similar. This would be a point where you would get a license/certification enabling you to practice.

I know my answer might seem vague but there are some quantifiers that I'm ignorant of. I wanted to reach out to (hopefully) guide you to a path that'll help you achieve your end goal.

Congratulations on your degree! The field of psychology is not the easiest to break into in South Africa but there is definitely a need. You should consider an internship even an unpaid one. Take a proactive approach and reach out to practitioners (private or public) in your area. Look at affiliations any University with a psychology program may have with practitioners across the country, attend workshops and conferences (virtual or in-person) to make connections.
I hope this provides some guidance.

Congratulations on your accomplishment of achieving your degree! That’s amazing. Your question is a question that so many of us have had to address. How can I gain experience so that I can begin my career? I would recommend that you take a look at your previous experiences, volunteer groups, clubs or church and see if you have already applied your skills in any of these or other areas. That would count as experience. You can also volunteer your services with non profit organizations. This would count as experiences too. If you are on LinkedIn, search for online volunteer opportunities to develop your skills and experience level. Before you know it you will have gained the experiences you need and also contacts and references within your field.

Hope this helps!
