As a doctor, anesthesiologist in particular, is it easy to balance work and still be active in having a family at home??

I am a female interested in becoming an anesthesiologist, but I also want to one day have a family, so I was wondering if it is easy to balance those two things. #doctor #pre-med #anesthesiologist

Estelle’s Answer

The good thing about anesthesiology is that the hours are pretty well defined in that anesthesiologists work the normal operating room hours from about 7 am to 4 pm. However, they do take call, so that can be stressful and hard work. When they are off call, though, they are truly off since they do not have individual practices. The key is to accept help from the people around you that love you and your family. Your life partner will need to understand that raising kids will truly be a partnership. It will make for a very fulfilling family.
Best of luck to you!
