Hi Ty C. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

I will share that the advice I give is dependent, to some degree, on where the engineer is in their career. In general, a couple of important challenges that an engineer can face is understanding the problem and then figuring out where to start in order to fix the problem. Understanding the problem can prove to be a challenge depending on the person who is saying "fix this please?" and depending on how complicated the problem is, it can be an equally heavy challenge to figure out how to fix. It is in these situations, having the ability to work with others, reaching out to partners, getting as clear view as possible on what "fixed" looks like, being able to measure or in some way quantify that the issue has been "fixed"...all of these elements can play a role, as part of knowing where to start.

Big projects generally will require helpers and some creativity. Smaller projects could also require creativity but for sure requires partners that can give objective feedback as to whether the challenge that was presented has been met.

Hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck to you!

Greatest challenge can be dependent on multiple issue that needs to meet a deadline.
It is at the same time challenging and interesting when you solve the problem.
To answer to your question in regards to your interest in engineering, you have multiple option for example for someone who is just about to join college there are software, hardware or mechanical engineering and computer engineering etc.
Other option can be depending on your line of interest you can take up courses plus self studies and devotion to specific of you interest and find a Job in that field to gain experience and work your way up.
Hope this help :)
