Is it true that I need to write extra essays when applying for undergraduate if am trying to major in pre-med? (I’m trying to apply into the UC system or a college in california)

I'm a high school student trying to become an Anesthesiologist or pharmacist. I am still deciding between the 2.

I don't know about extra essays but you will definitely have to write essays. This is because the UC system to very competitive. As such they cannot grade potential students on their GPA alone. An essay will give the admissions team an insight into the individual student. It is your opportunity to tell them why you above all those other people, that you deserve that slot. While writing is not everyone's forte there are places that you can go that will help with essay writing. I am including a link that will better explain the essay process for the UC schools.
