Sheila’s Answer

Hi Max:

As others have already shared some great comments, I'd like to add a few more items for your consideration. My daughter is a high school math teacher. Being a teacher can be very challenging and you will want to come up with creative ways to engage your class, keep their attention and make the learning exciting and interesting. There will be times when you will become overwhelmed, frustrated, stressed out, etc. but, connect with your students by showing interest in them, and listening to what they want to share. Start out with showing some patience and active listening. The end result is rewarding when they want to participate in class. 👍🏼

Best of luck to you!

Robert’s Answer

It was the best experience of my life. I was a real wise guy in school and thought that I would NEVER BE A TEACHER, but in college I took a part time job teaching and in no time loved it more than anything. There’s something wonderfully addictive about working with kids.

Gloria’s Answer

Hi max,

Being a teacher can vary by who you want to teach and what you want to teach. Being a teacher can be rewarding and frustrating, sometimes at the same time. So you need consider how you want to use your teaching talents. Do you want to be an expert in a particular area, such as chemistry, computer science, or a language? Have you considered what age you want to teach? People learn at all ages. I think that teaching adults is often overlooked by younger people since you have never been exposed to teaching adults. I am someone who teaches adults. I work for a company and create training that it used by adults in specific job roles. I do not need to be knowledgeable in anything but learning and development. I am given the information that I need to teach from my client. I think create a logical way to teach the training and then train the employees. I find it very rewarding. My job is to teach people what they should do for my company or teach them skills that they didn't have so they can get another job or a promotion.

I am so excited that you are considering teaching. Think about how you want to do that. If you can do what you love, that is going to make the tough times easier to get through. I have bad days, with bad students or difficult clients, but it is rarely because of what I do, because I love what I do.

Teaching can be very time consuming and will test your patience but can also be a very rewarding profession as well
Thank you comment icon Hi Dave! Thanks for your answer. Could you offer some more details for the student about your experience? In what ways is it time-consuming, and how much? What do you find most rewarding about it? Any additional info you have that would give an inside look at education would be fantastic! Thanks so much in advance. Alexandra Carpenter, Admin
