Good question, I would suggest taking some free online courses in cyber security. Alison.com is a website that offers free training in a lot of different courses including a cyber security course, you can find other free or inexpensive courses by doing a google search, UDEMY.com and Microsoft offer some courses for free or as low as $15 as well.

I would concentrate on learning the fundamentals: programming (C, python, etc), networking (layer2, TCPIP), encryption, and operating systems (basics, not specific types). You will need these building blocks in order to understand the technical concepts of cyber security. I would also study psychology, since most cyber security incidents begin with some type of social engineering. My last piece of advice is to be a sponge, read everything you can about cyber security and then research to understand what you are reading. The thing that sets cyber security apart from many other jobs is that it is always changing, so you have to become a lifelong learner. I hope this helps!
