Hi Corvon.

Im thinking about become a police officer i would like to know what do you guys do is it stressful sometime how danger is the job.

First of all, thank you for your interest. Great question! It is indeed a stressful job. A police officer is indeed bestowed with an array of important responsibilities under quite often dangerous situations. I found that remaining current on my training, being proactive on a daily basis on concentrating on the management my emotional reactions to others’ improver behavior, and keeping a positive attitude looking for ways each day to help others instead of thinking of myself helped me. If you decide that a career in law enforcement is something that you would like to pursue, you might keep what worked for me in mind. Remember, being a police officer is not just a job. It is a career. A noble career of helping your fellow man. Best of luck. Mark

So answer would be yes extremely stressful but also extremely rewarding a lot of responsibility goes with this job not just for yourself but for others and for the greater good of the nation, so it going to be a tougher decision and just as it stressful because stress alone is not enough to deter me from doing what I know to be right, is right I have done things that ,yourv people may not even think of doing because it was the right thing to do and that goes a lot in conjunction with valor and respect and honor it's something you have to stand for something you have to believe in t's not going to be worth it asomething that makes you happy to protect others and make sure that the law is being upheld the proper way it is also going to be very dangerous job there's a lot of responsibility involved with this considering the type of people you deal with and the laws that you are to uphold yourself as well it becomes very important to have a strong will for the better good and to keep that will throughout your career it is very difficult thing to not pass judgment on somebody because of their race because of their background or because of their area that they are in and is also extremely important to make sure that you give everybody the benefit of doubt don't put yourself at risk by doing so or others so this is a very important job to have it's not just something you should consider if something that you would need to live for it's something that is very important as a job and should be also taken very seriously and consideration but to answer your question yes it is extremely stressful not only because of what you have to deal with like because of what you have to see and ultimately the standard that you are to be held at, so knowing this it's more of a character decision on who you are what you stand for and what you're willing to do to make sure that that Liberty and justice is served while not using your own values judgment and morals to make decisions . Now do you have valor and honor thease are very imortsnt qualities to posessomething that you have with a twist of wanting to be a part of making sure that these values are upheld then the decision should be morally based on what you stand for not if it's stressful because the most stressful thing is can be the most rewarding so I would make an informed decision and dig deep in yourself and find out if you do have honor you do have respect do you have courage do you have valor if so then you'd be a great fit. This job can be extremely rewarding and soul fulfilling as long as you're there for the right reasons if you're there for money or for power don't do it you'll ruin yourself and ruin others in the process
Thank you comment icon I appreciate you taking the time to answer this. Corvon

Hi Corovon - I personally don't have experience in law enforcement. I would recommend reaching out to your local police department or even an officer in your neighborhood. Most departments prioritize transparency with their municipality and allow citizens to ride along with them to get a feel for the job. You will be required to stay a safe distance away from any dangerous situations, but they will let you ride un their cruiser get witness the types of calls they respond to. It's also a great time to ask them detailed questions about their work.

I've had a couple of officers offer to take me on a ride along, and my understanding it's an informal process to be able to do one. Good luck!
