Hi Sebastian,
Is this something you love? Is this something you are passionate about? Is this something you want to do?
If you answer yes to all 3, then that's your answer. There is nothing better then being able to wake up everyday to something you are passionate about and want to do.
It's hard work to get into that position so if you can make it and love what you do, all the hard work and sacrifice will be worth it.

That’s a great question! Becoming a video game designer comes with some amazing benefits. I’ve worked in television, healthcare, technology, and video games, and out of all of them, my most memorable experiences have been in the game industry.
One of the biggest joys of game design is the creativity involved. It’s a unique blend of art, storytelling, and technology, where you get to build entire worlds, design characters, and create adventures that players can explore. Unlike movies or books, games let people experience the stories you create, making the process incredibly rewarding. There’s also something special about the people you work with. Game development is a team effort, bringing together artists, programmers, writers, and musicians to craft something interactive and engaging. Every project feels like a shared adventure, filled with problem-solving, collaboration, and excitement. If you enjoy both entertainment and technology, game design is the perfect mix. You’re constantly learning new tools, exploring fresh ideas, and adapting to the latest trends in gaming. The industry moves fast, which means there’s always something new to discover.
And the best part? You get to play more games than ever before! As a designer, you’ll often test and explore games made by other teams, studios, and developers to learn from their ideas and mechanics. The game industry is still relatively young, and compared to other fields, it’s small, welcoming, and incredibly inclusive. Whether you’re a solo indie developer or working at a big studio, there’s always a community ready to support and share knowledge. If you love games, this is one of the most exciting careers you can pursue. There’s nothing quite like seeing something you helped create being played and enjoyed by people all over the world!
