What career do you think is right for me?

What career would you think is right for me?

I'm going to start off by saying that I'm Italian so I might be making some mistakes.
I'm quite desperate because I love different things like languages, arts, communications, environment. I don't know which path is right for me, although arts speak to me more than anything else. I have a strange personality: I'm introverted and that leads me from getting away from people, although a part of me is still reaching for a connection with them. I'm also unconventional, never liked traditional jobs.

I'm a creative person, especially in the field of performative arts. I love using my imagination and coming up with ideas, working with them. To make an example. creative direction has always spoken to me but I wouldn't even know where to start and if it would be too stressful for me. On the other side, I'm also logical and rational. I like researching and learning new things.

I'm also in love with languages. I would never have a job with no languages involved, but like I said, no traditional jobs such as translator or interpreter. They're not meant for me, I find them too boring.

I like working by myself, mostly in a peaceful environment, but I also want it to be dynamic and never the same. I don't like doing the same task all the time.

There might be some industries I'm interested in, like Arts, Communications and Marketing but I don't know which one is for me, and what job would be right for me.

I found out about a lot of jobs but none of them inspires me like I want to. I would like a job that doesn't make me want to settle on good. I want to excel in what I do. Is there a job that, maybe, combines arts and languages, even if in a strange way?

Thank you for reading this, it means a lot to me.

Please, answer me.

Thank you comment icon Hi Pamela, It is up to you for what career path you choose, my best advice I can give you for this is do a career based on something you absolutely love, when you choose your main career path, then see how your other interests can integrate into your main career interest. Hi Pamela,

It's great you're interested in so many different fields. Something to keep in mind is that the field you start with doesn't have to be the field you stay with. Have you ever thought about getting into the research profession? Maybe as a researcher in an industry that interests you. I work with many researchers and it's a super interesting and insightful field. It's sometimes customer facing which could be good for you considering you're introverted but also do want to connect with people.
Thank you comment icon Yes, it's a job I have been considering for months. To be even more precise, media research has sparked my interest. Unfortunately, I don't even know where to begin as there aren't many opportunities in that field in Italy. Can I please talk to your research friends? I would like to work for foreign countries. Pamela

Hi Pamela! Even though I don't have a definite answer for you I just wanted to say that there will be a job out there that fits all of your wants/needs and it may not be in the field you expect. I am currently waiting to hear if I got a medical writing job where I would be writing medical device instructions and ensuring that the translations are correct from Polish. It's a job that you don't hear of people having very often but it does involve the sciences and languages in a very unique way. I personally looked up "medical" and "writing" in my job search service and the position and others like it popped up. Maybe you could do something similar. Best of luck to you.
Thank you comment icon Thank you very much. I'm going to try and type, hoping to find something that will help me figure things out. I'm very happy for you, hoping to get there someday. Pamela

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question. I am glad to hear that you are a wide range of interest.
Given you are interested in languages, arts, communication and marketing, etc., would you consider to be a writer, comics author, work in advertisement industry, etc.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Explore more on these mentioned careers and find out whether you have interest on it
2. Try to speak to someone who are working in these careers
3. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in the college
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Priscilla’s Answer

I've been in multiple roles in my life (I'm in by 40s now). I started in IT, then HR, and now I work as Product Manager in a Financial institution (I graduated from Business Administrator, which is an amazing way to keep your options open - HR, Marketing, Finance, etc).
People change as they progress in life. Something that motivates and interest you may not be the same 20 years from now. So I would say keep your mind and your eyes open. Don't get too worried about having to choose one career and thinking that you need to stick with that. As long as you're growing (more senior positions, compensation, or personal achievement), you're good.
I'm also an introverted, so I try to avoid types of work that will make me uncomfortable (sales, teacher, etc), but I also know that many jobs will require somewhat regular interaction with people. If you are in the right community, you'll enjoy it.
A translator may be boring, but I think it depends. You could work for a NGO, and travel to help people around the world. I think that type of job would be very interesting, never the same, and fulfilling.
Thank you comment icon Thank you. As an introverted person, I'm happy to see you being understanding toward me. I'm trying to open minded and interested in many options. Pamela
