Jessica Dominique’s Answer

Hello Aisha,

Pros:

1. You help children grow and develop; you may even create meaningful bonds with some children that are priceless.

2. You will prepare yourself to be a parent one day; you will have adequate wisdom and experience that most people do not have before they have a child.

Cons:

1. You may face a situation such as discovering child abuse or neglect - which is distressing and frustrating. There may be little avenues to improve based on modern laws and statutes.

2. Some children live in very disruptive homes and bring that chaos to the class. When dealing with the school administration, you may have to be persistent about special education/alternative education options for those disruptive children!

Hope that helps!

Warmly,

Jessica Dominique

This is something you really have to weigh for yourself. All jobs have there challenges. I have been a secondary teacher and there are hard things with that age group, but teaching as a career is very rewarding, from my experiences I would say it is best to give yourself time to decide if you think the costs are worth the benefits.

Julie’s Answer

Embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on young lives! Being a preschool teacher can be an incredibly rewarding experience, as it allows you to directly engage with children, witness their eyes sparkle with excitement when learning something new, and develop strong bonds with families and the community. While a teaching career may not be the most financially lucrative path, it offers immense personal satisfaction and fulfillment.

However, alongside the many joys of teaching, there are some challenges you must prepare for. As a Mandated Reporter, you may occasionally encounter situations where you must report potential child neglect or abuse – a difficult but crucial responsibility. Remember that you are there to support these children and help them find their way towards a brighter future.

Furthermore, long hours and the passion for teaching vary across individuals. Still, your own commitment and dedication to this noble profession can serve as an inspiration to your fellow faculty members. Ultimately, you will make a lasting impression on the children you teach, and that is truly priceless. Embrace the experience and let your passion shine!
