Marilyn’s Answer

Illustration will probably give you a more practical approach to earning a living in the field of art, but the more knowledge you have of fine art, the more opportunities you might have for gallery or museum work. A lot depends upon your interest. If you want to have steady work in the field of art, you might also get experience in business as a minor, or at least take courses that would help you in working for yourself as well.
Best of luck,

Well you can be an illustrator, animator, cartoonist, a concept/game artist, or you can become a professional artist in which field you decide to go into. Also you can also use it as a building block into more focused job searches. A traditional education really helps with basics, but if you're looking for instant job openings you may have a harder time if you don't focus tighter. Make sense?
