different schools have different requirements. I went to the Culinary Institute of America, and at the time they required 6 months of restaurant experience. I would tell anyone that's thinking of going to culinary school to work for at least a few months in a restaurant or cafe or even with a catering company. make sure its really what you want to do.

I went through a local community college that is partnered with a vocational school. I received a culinary certificate as well as my Associate degree. NJ
