What acivity is recommended to help enrich communication major internship resumes, or pharmacy undergraduate application activities?

I am currently enrolled in UCLA communication, but may want to apply to USC's undergraduate pharmacy program after graduation. I would like to start preparing in advance. I was wondering if there are any activities or volunteers that I can participate in as a UCLA junior communication student to enrich my resume for an internship? As a student interested in applying to the USC pharmacy program, what activities or volunteers can I participate in at LA to enrich my application at that time?

Hi Kangni :) i can provide an answer for the communication major internships part of your question. I would first try locating any student organizations (PRSSA, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, etc.) and participating in those. Next, I would communicate to your network (friends, family, family friends, peers, teachers), about any internship opportunities or perhaps communication work you can do for them on the side. Any special projects you can work on, in addition to internship or job experience can really help you here. I actually got my first internship through a professor who was impressed with my work. Lastly, look into LinkedIn learnings, or other website/online training and certifications that you can get. Hope this helps, please reach out if you have any follow-up questions. Good luck!

A Pharmacy degree offers various career paths, such as retail, hospital, government, research, education, and the pharmaceutical industry. While a background in science and healthcare is essential, schools also value community service and communication skills. Combining healthcare communications with your interests could be an excellent approach. To gain experience in science, think about participating in research projects. Apart from your internship, you could volunteer your communication skills for a community service organization or join a patient-focused group related to a specific health condition.

To improve my pharmacy school application, I worked part-time as a nursing unit clerk in a hospital and later as a pharmacy assistant in a retail pharmacy. If you cannot commit to such a role, consider spending a day shadowing a pharmacist to gain insight into their daily routine, which could be helpful during interviews. Additionally, I volunteered weekly to assist an elderly couple during high school, showcasing my dedication to community service.
