Good evening Alexzia,

It's normal to feel a little stress about college. And it's easier said than done for me to tell you not to stress out because it's not as big of a deal as you think it is.

If you have a guidance counselor in your high school please talk to them. They can help you begin to look for schools, and they can also help you decide on what path you want to take.

It's important to note that college is not meant for everyone so please don't think that you have to go to college because everybody goes to college. Trade schools are a wonderful option as well and they don't require four years of your life and they pay pretty well depending on what trade you pick up.

Some students take time off what's known as a gap year between high school and their first year of college is theory want to save up money or if they just need a break in between and that's a great time to decide on what you want to do as well.

Now, I don't know you personally so I can't say what you like and what you don't like but you know yourself better than anybody knows you. So take the time and really think about what you could see yourself doing long-term.
You have passions think about what your passions are and ask yourself can I see myself doing this for the rest of my life?

In my experience as an Academic Advisor don't pick up a major just because you think it's gonna make you a lot of money most students end up switching out of that major or the end up not happy with your decision at all.

If you've done all of this and you know for sure that you want to go to college but you don't know what you wanna do you're still in luck because most colleges offer an exploratory program. And typically that is a department that allows students to start their college process while deciding on what they want to major in.
During this time you'll be meeting with various counselors and even the career services center at that institution to determine what your strengths really are and what your passions in life are.

You don't have to have it all figured out now and you don't have to have it all figured out after you get a degree.

So take a deep breath, schedule an appointment with your counselor, and have a conversation with yourself about what you like and where you want to be in the future.

Loriel recommends the following next steps:

Talk to your high school guidance counselor
Talk to yourself, what are your passions?
Make a list of things that you love, a list of things that you like, and a list of things that you would not want to do...ever!
Start to think about where you could see yourself going. Do you want to go to college or would you rather go to trade school?

Good you are asking these questions because that shows you are focused on your future and making good choices. However, you don't need to have a specific plan of what you will do in the future. Sometimes it's after trying a variety of careers that you really find the best fit for you. Use your time now to talk to people in jobs that you think you might like and do some online research. You can get a good general education at a community college and later decide if you need or want more schooling.

Meanwhile participate in a variety of volunteer activities so that you can be exposed to different jobs and to gain some important skills which will be helpful on a resume or in a job interview later on.

With every good wish!
