Can anyone recommend a remote entry level job that does not have calling?

I live in a very loud house, I would prefer not to be calling customers, I think I could do conference calls with my coworkers but not customers.

I have been looking and everything I find seems like a scam… linking to sketchy sites which want me to pay money to get a “certificate” or just straight up tries to get me to sign up for another job searching site that doesn’t have the job I was looking for in the first place. Or it’s just a survey site!

I have been looking for clerical or data entry. I enjoy organization and feel like those type of jobs would suit me better than sales. I am looking for something where I can start with no experience as well.

I am 18 with a year of experience working in person. I don’t plan on going back to school to get a degree. I have a high school diploma. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sometimes a simple Google search will bring up the most recent postings. Have you looked into being a virtual assistant? You may have to have a few different clients to start as some might not be full time right away. Sometimes the Craigslist gigs section has remote work (also have to be careful of scams though). Have you tried doing a job search for data entry and entering the location as remote? Medical billing/coding can be a good remote position, but would require a certificate if you are open to doing that. Also try reaching out to a temp agency in your area to see if there are any positions. Even if they are short term it could open more doors down the road.

You are not alone, there are many people who are interested in remote jobs that require minimum to none interaction. Here are some you can explore:

Chat Customer Service Agent (you would probably need to obtain some sort of training provided by the company)
Transcriber
Graphic Designer
Freelance Writer
Closed Captioner

These ones require not a lot of experience but probably some minor capital investment of your time. Good luck!

I would recommend job searching through the employment site Indeed. I would also suggest that you set up a Linked In account and seek remote work there. Those are two reliable on line resources.

You mention that you are looking for data entry work, that you are aware that some employment notices are not real jobs and that you live in a noisy environment and can't do phone work.

It's great that you have the ability to avoid the fake jobs, but with remote work, there is always some use of phones to some extent. Even if it's just to contact your employer or participate in an online/phone meeting or training. There are also online or phone interviews at which you will need to impress the employer so you can be hired. Remote work without using a phone is rarely heard of.

You also say that you do not plan to get a college degree. Since you imply that you type, you may want to consider applying to be a transcriber. These come in various types, like typing the closed captions for movies or TV shows. Law firms and medical use them too, but they want people with knowledge of legal and medical terms.

Although it's not working from home exactly, you may want to consider being an online personal shopper or a mystery shopper. You should not pay any company for a job. You may find jobs like these at Indeed and Linked In. A site called DIYGenius also lists some additional remote employment websites.

Keep in mind that remote work is very competitive and that education always gives one an edge. You may want to consider additional education if you continue to find that you are not getting interviews or job offers. I have worked remotely when two of my jobs went remote in the past three years. I also auditioned via video for a commercial produced 3,000 miles away and got the part and acted remotely. So it can happen
