How to chose the right college?

How can I chose the right college, that will be most beneficial to my future career, when I have no idea what I want to be? I will be starting 10th grade soon, and I don't know where to start, when it comes to colleges. Advice would be appreciated.

It's all about how the curriculums they offer and how they line up with your career field of choice. When looking through colleges take your time to read through each course and what's on offer. The other important things to always keep in mind are: price, location, quality of life while on-campus and post graduate aid. Don't feel pressured to go to an expensive college just because it touts to be of high quality. A good education shouldn't come at the cost of indebting yourself. Plan around the budget you have and talk with an academic counselor when it comes to seeing what colleges fit your mold. Right now you're in the 10th grade, you got time to think this over and plan. Don't let anyone pressure you into a hasty decision. Picking your out a college takes time and a lot of research.

First off congratulations on starting your planning for the future. If you can narrow down the field of interest that you would like to study, it would be helpful. That said you may want to seek out a guidance counselor who can help you focus your interests. Next thing to consider would be whether you want to stay close to home, leave the state, etc. Also, you may need to consider finances such as tuition rates , out-of-state fees, etc. at the different schools. These things may need to be discussed with Parents or guardians. Also, if you’re not already enrolled in accelerated programs at your high school that provide for financial assistance with college, I would look into that. I will tell you that my daughter has a degree in fine arts, and has not been an and has not been able to use her degree. I’ve known other individuals who’ve gotten general degrees and job opportunities are not as abundant with general degrees as with focused degrees such as technical degrees, nursing, law enforcement, accounting, hospitality etc. So when you are considering, what your focus will be in college, since you seem to be a long range planner, you may want to also consider future employment prospects

The first thing to look for when searching for the right college is if they offer the degree and courses that you are interested in. Next, look at other options such as extra curricular and options you think are important in a school. Then finally look at location and cost if that is a concern.

There are a few ways to go here. First of all you're going into 10th grade so you have a couple of years before you have to make that decision. Spend the next couple of years narrowing down your choices. There's a website I refer people to which is collegeboard.org. Under Big Future take the Career Quiz. That may help give you some ideas of areas to pursue. If you have electives at your high school take some of them that are of interest to you. If it comes to your senior year and you still have no idea what you want to do you may want to consider a community college in your area. Collegeboard.org will also help you in your college search if you figure out what you want to do. Good luck.

If you are already planning this far ahead, I am sure you will find success at any college! Nonetheless, if you have a strong passion in a certain area already, you can apply to schools that are ranked well in that subject. I think the most important factor is the location and cost. In-state tuition is usually much cheaper than out of state. There are many University of California schools, and they are all amazingly well-rounded. If you don't like big schools, you may also ask around family or friends to see what smaller colleges are around in California.

If you plan on going out of state, I highly recommend paying a visit to the college. I personally committed to my university when I was able to tour its campus. You'll be able to get to know what a normal day looks like as a student there.

You still have plenty of time. I would compile a list of colleges you may be interested even slightly in. As you get closer to the time to apply, you can cut colleges off this list or add new ones. I would also rank them and keep notes on what you like or dislike about each one. Best of luck!

For applying in a college there are many factors to consider when determining the best college for you . Some key factor include college's location , size , academic programmes,campus culture,extracurricular activities,and cost.It is important to research each of those factors and determine which are most impirtant to you.You can start by looking college ranking lists,but keep in mind that these lists are not always comprehensive or unbiased.You can also talk to current students and alumni,and visit campuses,attend college fairs,and read college guiad books to get a better sense of what each college has to offer ultimately the best college for you will depend on your individual needs,interests,and goals . First of all good for you to be thinking about college while still in high school. The first thing you need to do is pick something that interests you. I am a nurse and as this is a great field to go into , it is not for everyone. But if you are not sure you can always go to a smaller college to get your associates degree. Getting your general education is vital if you want to go further then you can look into colleges that are of your interest. Best of luck.
