It might be a good way of starting off if your resume is brand new. I have used a CV clinic before, very early in my career, and I have built on it ever since. Beware of those who charge an arm and a leg for something you could have easily done yourself though - look out for promotions and for clinics with reasonable rates. If you can't find any there are several free resources online and examples of CVs from various industries, which can give you a good idea of what you need.

Fola recommends the following next steps:

If you decide on a CV clinic, look out for those offering very reasonable rates through promotions

Preparing a resume can be a bit overwhelming if you don't have much experience. A clinic can be a very good place to start, but I would make sure and read online reviews before attending. I would also suggest using some local resources like your school's guidance or career counselor, your local Chamber of Commerce and the local job placement/unemployment office. These can all be great resources to help you get started or at least point you in the right direction. Just do some research before paying anyone money.

I learned by using a template in Microsoft Word. You can then use websites like LinkedIn and others to get an idea of how to best present your education, skills and experience.

In New York, USA our public libraries have free sessions regarding creating a resume and cover letter and job search resources. They also have a free service where a library resource will review your resume and cover letter and provide feedback. Also, sometimes state and local governments will have resume, cover letter, and job placement resources available. You may also want to do an online search for sample resumes for the position you are looking for that can provide some guidance.
