What is the best major to pursue if I am looking at following the career path of Software Engineering?

I have been told that the major was Conputer Science, however, I would like to make sure that is correct. I want to choose the right major for the job I want rather than accidentally choosing the wrong major and finding out later in my college career. #technology #college-major

Shawn’s Answer

I work in the telecommunication industry and there is a lot of room for software engineers. Right now there is a lot of buzz around artificial intelligence, big data, and software defined networking. Universities are beginning to provide curriculum that is geared towards these areas.

A computer science degree is a great basic general knowledge degree, however you may have to fine tune your knowledge to define the area that you may be interested in.

take a look at Big Data, and Hadoop, and see if there is anything interesting there for you!

Pawan’s Answer

Bachelor's Degree (Four Years). A bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field, is the traditional minimum degree preferred by employers. Bachelor's degree programs expose students to a broader curriculum, one that provides a foundation in mathematics and computer science.
