Just about anything, depends on your interests. I work in tech support and systems administration, but there's numerous options. There's obvious options like programming, system analyst, information security, project management, web development, database administrator, etc. But there are also less obvious options like product manager (they basically act as a intermediate between the customer requesting the product and the developers who code the product), user experience designer (they make sure that the product is easy and simple for the customer to use), business analyst (not necessarily tech related depending on your speciality), computer forensic analyst (examines data stores and tries to track who made what changes, deleted data, where data came from etc for criminal investigations), business intelligence (analyzes data and creates reports for non-technical people to show them the data results).

Basically, decide what subjects interest you, then do a search to see what IT jobs could be related to those subjects. If you are interested in health for example, there's whole areas of tech dedicated to health information systems or there's FinTech if you are interested in finance. If you like dealing with people you could look at project management, support, or business analysis for example, if you aren't so into people look at more solitary options like maybe IT security, network administration, or data science where you're spending more time looking at the systems themselves.

So many options for the tech industry. I'll speak from my experience and background. I work for Verizon and I do sales for enterprise accounts (organizations with 500+ employees). Although sales doesn't sound "technical", because of the company that I work for and the solutions that my clients are looking for, my job requires me to be very engaged with new and evolving technology in order to properly sell it. So, I would say that if you are a people person and like to build relationships, being in a sales role at a technology company will keep you in the tech realm but maybe not so much at the desk or behind a computer all day.

Hans’s Answer

Product Management is a career that can be very fulfilling in the Tech Industry as you're able to craft a product roadmap while working with the engineering team. While it always helps to have a programming background, as a product manager, your responsibility is to understand your clients and know what features to develop along with requirements for the product build. You're able to have a real impact on the outcome and success of your product in a fulfilling way.

If you are aiming for Tech jobs or planning to enter in IT industry, I would recommend you to start with some good programming languages (PL) first like C, C++, Java. Once you are familiar with any of these PLs, start looking for opportunities and try to advance your skills always (this is a key element if you want to be competitive in the market) as move forward by observing the trends and latest technologies in the market. - Thanks.
