With land prices so high, unless you inherit a farm, you will be working for others. Observe different farmibg oporations, but remember that dairy farmers work 356 days a year, in all weather and holidys. Consider work with farm cradit, farm organizations and even nitch markets like fish hatcheries. I am not sure it is always worth a 4 yr degree. I speak as the wife of a farmer who has seen it all. Also consider your soouse will need to be on board. But there is no better place to raise kids than on a farm. Many farming jobs include housing. Good Luck

If you want to be a gamer and have no experience whatsoever go in to major in agriculture at a university. They will teach you what fertilizer to use when, how to raise animal and plants, and so on.
If you know of someone who own a farm. They could be a great mentor and teach you all of this. But, they more than likely they will ask you to start from the bottom up (become a cow milker).
