Is it really important to have a good GPA once I am looking for a job right after school?

As a 17-year-old senior who is planning on going to college soon, I have always wondered if my grades are more important or the research and internships that I do are more important. All through high school, my focus has been to get that A in all the classes and that's what I have been always trying to do (in order to get into a good school with good scholarship). However, once I get my bachelors or masters, is it really going to matter how I did during my college years academic wise or does the experience count as more important? (I want to be able to focus more on internships and research rather than homework and attendance)

It is always a great practice to maintain above average grades. This helps to build your character, not just your grades. You will learn to be an overachiever at your workplace. Going above and beyond will display good work ethics. I wasnt an honor student in high school because I didn't see the significance. In college, I maintained a 3.8-4.0. I didn't have to pay a dime for school. I qualified for scholarships. Now, companies such as our company offer grants that pays for your full tuition and books. Remember its not the grades that matter, it is what you have learned in your classes. #resume#college#goodgrades#Iamverizon

Grades are as important as you work experience or inetrnship experience. It does not necessarily means that you need to be at the top of your grade but a decent grade reflects how hardworking you have been. A recruiter will always look at your GPA along with your skills to determine how fit you are for the job.

Hi Jeffy! While grades are important, employers are also going to want you to have relevant work experience. It is important to get good grades to show mastery of the material you are learning but not at the expense of gaining real world experience. Both methods are beneficial to learning the skills needed to be successful in the professional world. I recommend maintaining a healthy balance of both classroom and extracurricular activities during your academic career.

It is important to get good grades, but it is also crucial to have relevant job experience. Maintaining good grades does look good on your resume, but be sure you are actually learning the material and getting the necessary skills you need as opposed to just remembering information to throw back on an exam. Having a god work ethic (getting good grades) can translate into a good work ethic in the workplace.
