Great that you feel you can best teach elementary students. Of course the best way to learn about teaching is to observe other teachers and also to consider subbing for a year after graduation. You can learn a lot that way...the good and the not so good teaching methods. The best way to "better the lives" of your students is to engage them in learning, show that learning is fun, relate your lessons to their lives and be a good role model. I was fortunate to enter education after my own kids were in HS. I volunteered in the classrooms, and eventually worked as a sub in every level of the ES. If you have a specific interest or hobby, integrate that into your lessons. I truly believe in pre and post assessments which would let you know more about your students. Good luck!

Focus on Academic Success
Keep track of your degree plan: Regularly review your academic requirements to make sure you're on course to graduate in Spring 2025.
Use campus resources: Take advantage of tutoring centers, writing labs, and study groups to stay academically strong.
Build strong relationships with professors: They can mentor you, write recommendation letters, and share valuable teaching insights.
Develop Skills That Make a Difference
Empathy and communication: These are key to effective teaching.
Classroom management: Learn strategies to keep order while creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
Reflective practice: Maintain a journal or portfolio of lessons learned and areas for improvement—it’s useful for job interviews and personal growth.
Prepare for a Teaching Career
Get classroom experience early: Look for internships, volunteer roles, or work as a teacher's aide. The sooner you gain classroom experience, the more confident you'll feel.
Understand different student needs: Learn about special education, English language learners, and culturally responsive teaching.
Take the certification process seriously: Pass all required exams (like Praxis or your state’s equivalent) and approach student teaching with dedication and enthusiasm.
