What is the best source of college scholarships for Forestry?
I am pursuing a Forestry degree at the local community college this Fall. I do not want to take out student loans to complete my degree. I am working part-time and looking for scholarships in my field.

Hey Talus!
Great question—forestry is such an important and exciting field, and there are definitely scholarship opportunities out there to support students like you who are passionate about it. Here are some of the best sources for forestry scholarships:
Society of American Foresters (SAF) www.eforester.org They offer several scholarships for undergrad and graduate forestry students, especially those who are SAF members. It’s one of the top professional organizations in the field, so it’s worth checking out and joining!
Your College’s Forestry or Natural Resources Department. Many forestry programs have school-specific scholarships funded by alumni or local environmental groups. Ask your advisor or department admin—they often know about hidden gems!
USDA Forest Service / National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) . While not always listed as traditional scholarships, these agencies sometimes offer paid internships or fellowship-style programs that include tuition assistance.
Use search engines such as Scholarships.com Fastweb.com College Board’s BigFuture Going Merry. Use filters for “Forestry,” “Environmental Science,” or “Natural Resources” on:
Also consider scholarships tied to outdoor leadership, environmental education, sustainability, or wildlife conservation—many of them overlap with forestry studies.
