While I attend CUNY HUNTER, i'd love to get first hand experience and see the world of medicine front and center.

Certain requirements like a valid and clean driving license, high school diploma, and at least 18 years old for this position. you are attending CUNY Hunter so you can check with them if there is any EMS training program available. Besides that, Health +Hospital or state-approved training agencies also offer this training program.
Applying for the certificate, take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician exam first. This is a written and practical exam, after passing an application for a certificate through the NY Department of Health.
Apply for the EMT job and gain hands-on experience by volunteering or internships.
