Taking notes is a good idea, especially when something you don't understand is being said or important things are discussed in online classes, so you have it for later if needed.
You can use a mobile phone app called Notion; there is also a Notion program for PC.
So, if you write something on your phone, it will come straight to your PC, or the other way around, which can be very handy to have in both places this way.
Then, another thing i can suggest you do is use AI tools like "Deepseek" or "ChatGPT" to ask questions or get clarifications afterwards, when you're back home, from the notes you wrote in your "Notion".
It may not sound very easy, but trust the process, and it will go smoothly when you get the hang of it!
Welcome back to school, and good luck!

Hi Samantha - The new online classes have really changed things for many students. It's not quite the same as being in a classroom where you can easily ask questions. But there are some perks to virtual classes, like being able to record sessions and watch them as often as you need. Here are a few tips that have helped me learn better:
* Take notes by hand or use apps like OneNote or Notability.
* Try solving practice problems instead of just watching videos.
* Participate in discussion boards or class forums—don’t hesitate to ask questions.

Resources to help you succeed in online math classes (especially as a returning student):
📚 Khan Academy – Free videos and practice problems on almost every math topic. Great for breaking things down step-by-step.
🧮 Paul’s Online Math Notes – Super clear notes and examples for college-level math.
🎥 YouTube Channels – Like PatrickJMT, Professor Leonard, or Math Antics (depending on your level). They explain math in easy terms.
💬 Office Hours & Tutors – Use your school’s tutoring center or ask your professor for help. They’re there for you!
👥 Study Groups – Join online class chats, Discord groups, or find a study buddy. Talking it out helps.
🧘♀️ Stay Organized – Use a planner or calendar. Online classes need structure—set time each week to study, watch lectures, and practice.
🔗 Desmos & Wolfram Alpha – Free tools to solve and visualize math problems.

When I was asked to teach an online class back in 2002, I had considerable doubt about its quality as well as feasibility. Within a year, I was a convert from face-to-face class to online classes.
The major benefit of online classes is the absence of boring lectures. Furthermore, you still have access to your instructor via discussion board 24/7. Just do not be afraid to post questions. On the other hand, it takes discipline to be successful in online classes. You need focus and good time-management skills.
There are many good free math eBooks available online. One source is OpenStax (https://openstax.org/subjects/math). Take a look at this site and choose the appropriate level of eBook for your math class.
